There are hundreds of escapes and opportunities to indulge hidden away in the Cotswold hills. Cotswold Manor House Hotels are great places to base yourself for spa and beauty treatments or even just the kind of therapy that a few days’ gentle walking and birdsong provides.

Whilst you indulge in a great B&B or chic, luxurious hotel – you can learn what ‘being spoilt’ really feels like!

Shopping in the Cotswolds these days is a welcome escape from the usual trundle around Tesco or Walmart. You can meet producers at a Farmers’ Markets, which run throughout The Cotswolds and which offer locally produced anything, from cheese to candles. Look out for the new generation of ‘barn conversion’ style shops such as Daylesford and Lapstone offering the most chic sort of products in a rural environment.

Antique shops are a must see – an attraction in their own right. Stow-on-the-Wold in particular is well-known for its abundance of antique shops, from specialists in Arts and Crafts to general ‘lucky dip’ shops.

Cheltenham was recently voted “ Britain’s Favourite High Street” largely in praise of the ‘Promenade’ row of excellent smaller shops. The ‘Suffolks’ area is a browser’s paradise with funky small shops and chic restaurants including the two Michelin star Champignon Sauvage. .

The Cotswolds is the antidote to 21 st century stresses!
