Cotswold Gardens

Our inside tip for Cotswolds gardens is to look out for village fetes where the big house often opens for the day and you can see a private garden and buy plants at a fraction of garden centre prices.

Cotswold gardens are a year round attraction in some cases with Westonbirt Arboretum and Batsford Arboretum a delight to visit whatever the season.

Gardens of Gloucestershire Treasure Trail

Six of the finest Cotswolds gardens, Cotswolds Tourism, and Treasure Trails (Gloucestershire) have joined forces to launch a new online Trail.

Participants can take part from the comfort of their own home and, via web links to the Garden sites, taste the charm and beauty of the garden attractions which lie in wait - whilst solving the puzzle and planning where to visit first.

As an added incentive for those who successfully solve the clues, a reward awaits them at each garden on presentation of their correct answer sheet.

The Cotswolds gardens involved in the new Trail are Kiftsgate Court, Painswick Rococo Garden, Hidcote Garden, Sudeley Castle, Mill Dene Garden and Snowshill Manor and Garden. The new Trail follows the antics of Glossy, the cheeky magpie, who has stolen a diamond ring and hidden it somewhere in Lady Gloria Glarsta's garden.  Solving the clues will enable you to work out where it has been secreted - then all you need to do is enjoy a visit to one or more of the Gardens to claim your reward.

Unusual Gardens...

For those looking for a more exotic garden Sezincote House offers oriental water gardens with an unusual Indian style Regency house, or Painswick Rococo Gardens has formal vistas with winding woodland walks and more natural planting, as well as flamboyant and frivolous features and buildings.

Traditional Gardens...

For traditionalists Cerney House Gardens is a classic, romantic Victorian secret garden, while Bourton House Garden is an exciting 3-acre garden positively bursting with flamboyant borders, imaginative topiary and profusions of herbaceous borders.
