Tucked away in the quiet rural village of Northmoor you will find our two cottages within the historic setting of Rectory Farm with its beautiful listed buildings. Orchard Cottage and Carters Cottage are now far removed from their former life as an open fronted cart shed. Each cottage sleeps 4 (one double and one twin room), with a bathroom upstairs, a shower room downstairs, sitting room with wood burning stove and a fully fitted, very well equipped kitchen. Free superfast WIFI is available, making this a perfect base whether travelling for business or pleasure.
We are passionate about our small corner of Oxfordshire and live in the adjacent farmhouse. Mary Anne is very knowledgeable about the area and will happily recommend places to visit to help you make the most of your time here. If you are on business she can advise on the best route to get you to your morning appointment on time!
The farm has been in the Florey family for four generations and enjoys a mile frontage of the River Thames - our pedigree herd of North Devon cattle can be seen grazing in the fields round Northmoor. Our field margins are filled with flowers, bees, butterflies and other wildlife - some of which can be seen from the enclosed gardens at the rear of the cottages. Look out for woodpeckers, red kite, deer, foxes, badgers to name but a few. The Thames Path passes through our river meadows and The Oxfordshire Cycle Way goes past the gate. There are many other marked walks for you to enjoy around the village and surrounding areas – OS maps are provided.
Northmoor is between Witney, Oxford & Abingdon and 4 miles from the Downton Abbey village of Bampton. Rectory Farm is ideally situated to visit Oxford, The Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace, Rousham Gardens, Buscot Park, Aston Pottery and gardens, Kingston Bagpuize House - another Downton location! .... plus many other local places of interest. We are only an hours drive from Stratford and just over an hour from Warwick and Bath; as well as being easily accessible to trains and buses that go direct to London. Our community owned pub - The Red Lion - which serves fantastic food, is within a 2 minute walk.
