Hit the heights

Got a head for heights? The Cotswolds offers visitors plenty of highs with the added bonus of spectacular views across the Cotswold countryside.

The Tyndale Monument

Tyndale Monument
Head up the 111ft (34m) Tyndale Monument, built in honour of the New Testament translator, William Tyndale. Climb up the 120 step spiral staircase and enjoy spectacular views over the River Severn and surrounding countryside.
The monument can be seen from the Cotswold Way where there are lots of fantastic walks. This autumn, there will also be a celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the monument being built.

Westonbirt Treetop Walkway
Get up close and personal with Westonbirt’s magnificent tree collection on the new Stihl Treetop Walkway.  This wonderful wood and steel walkway is fourteen metres high and snakes through Silk Wood.  It includes a crow’s nest and rope bridge and is great for families for a bird’s eye view of the trees.

Head 4 Heights
Adrenaline junkies will love the huge range of climbing, jumping and swinging activities on offer at Head 4 Heights in the Cotswold Water Park.  It’s a great, safe family day out with activities to suit every level of ability.  Whether you’re a courageous pole climber or a fearless free faller – there’s something for everyone at Head 4 Heights.

Broadway Tower
Seated proudly and dramatically on the top of the hill, Broadway Tower was the brainchild of the great 18th Century landscape designer, Capability Brown. This eccentric building complete with turrets and battlements, gargoyles and balconies offers dramatic views of the surrounding countryside.

Gloucester Cathedral
269 steps up (and 269 back down!) but all worth it once you reach the top with breath taking views across the glorious Cotswold countryside! Work your way up the winding medieval spiral staircase visiting the ringing chamber, where you can see ‘Great Peter’ - the only medieval bell of its size remaining in England.

Far Peak Climbing
A superb dedicated facility, offering indoor climbing and bouldering for all ages and abilities and outdoor climbing on a 15m tower - a great experience whether you want to learn, improve or just bring the kids for some fun!
