Enjoy a bit of costume drama? If so, you going to be spoilt for choice in the Cotswolds this summer!

 
Visit Sudeley Castle on July 3rd and find out about life in 1535 in a special Tudor Fun Day – including a royal visit from Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, falcon flight displays, junior jousting and crafts.  Or find out about King Richard III’s connections with Sudeley in a special Richard III Weekend when you’ll be whisked back to medieval times.  It takes place on the weekend of August 20th. 

Shakespeare enthusiasts are in for a treat this summer as Berkeley Castle prepares to host a very special production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.  Believed to be written for a Berkeley family wedding, the production from the 17th to the 27th July is a great way to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.  Take a picnic, relax and enjoy this wonderful play set against the castle’s spectacular backdrop. 

And there’s more Shakespeare at Batsford Arboretum where The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will be performing ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ under the trees on July 7th.  Bring a chair and a picnic and spend a glorious summer’s evening enjoying one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies performed by an all-male cast!   The arboretum is also the setting for a production of Robin Hood on July 27th – the perfect backdrop for this children’s classic.

Tewkesbury Medieval Festival on July 9th and 10th will feature a Grand Parade: thousands of re-enactors, entertainers and traders from all over Europe gather in the picturesque market town for a fantastic and unique family day out including battle re-enactments each afternoon.

Gloucester Cathedral are holding a whole host of exciting events to commemorate the 800th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Henry III.  Running across the city from August to October, events include a royal parade and coronation re-enactment, medieval market, exhibitions and illustrated talks.
