What a backdrop: charming villages, historic towns and imposing houses, castles and palaces! Little wonder that film producers are forever scouring the Cotswolds for the ideal location for the latest movies.
Bridget Jones's Baby
The christening scene in Bridget Jones’s Baby was filmed in St Mary’s Church in the pretty Cotswold village of Swinbrook. This isn’t Bridget’s first Cotswolds jaunt – the Christmas village scenes in the first movie were filmed in Snowshill – looking idyllic covered in “snow”, despite filming taking place in the Summer!
Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace has been used for so many movies, we don’t have space to list them all but some notable recent ones include the BFG, the latest James Bond, Spectre, A Little Chaos and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Take the Lights, Camera, Action film trail and go behind the scenes of your favourite films.
Gloucester Cathedral
The atmospheric cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral have been used for many scenes in the Harry Potter films.
Wuthering Heights
Coming out in 2017, a new film adaption of the classic Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights was filmed in locations around the Cotswolds including The Fleece Inn in Bretforton and Chavenage House.
...and so many more!
Many other Cotswolds locations have featured in movies, including the National Waterways Museum Gloucester and surrounding Gloucester Docks and Cotswold Canals in Alice Through the Looking Glass, Stanway House in The Libertine, the village of Cornwell in The Holiday and Sudeley Castle in the 1996 adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma.
