Mothering Sunday is a wonderful day for showing your mum just how special she really is – whether by whisking her off for a night away, indulging in a spa treatment or enjoying some fabulous Cotswolds food and drink – there’s something for every taste!

Escape the modern world and wake up in your very own honey-coloured stone cottage in the heart of the North Cotswolds. 17th century Slatters Cottage in Bourton-on-the-Hill has an inglenook fireplace and woodburning stove and is the perfect place to relax and unwind on mum's special day. 

Tewkesbury Park Hotel are offering a ‘Marvellous Mum Breakaway’ from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 March including one night’s dinner bed and breakfast, an indulgent afternoon tea for two, a 30 minute spa treatment for mum and both a bouquet of flowers and chef’s homemade truffles in your mum's room awaiting her arrival!  Prices start at £212 for a ‘Just Right Room’, rising to £428 for an ‘opulence suite’. 

You’ll be amazed what you’ll see from the Peng Observatory at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.  Book a table for a delicious two or three course Mother’s Day Lunch and you can enjoy a fabulous meal and support the wonderful wildlife charity at the same time.  Admission charge for non-members – please book in advance.

Mums will also be given a special treat as part of the traditional Kings Sunday lunch on 26 March.  Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of The Kings Hotel in Chipping Campden – a perfect spot for exploring the village and the nearby countryside.

Find out more about the fascinating history behind the Mother Goddesses at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester on Mothering Sunday. These intriguing sculptures represent fertility – a perfect tribute to mums everywhere.  The museum is open from 2 – 5pm on 26 March. 

The lovely antique shops and boutiques in Tetbury are perfect for perusing before lunch and The Close Hotel have a 3 course special between 12 and 4pm on Mother’s Day. Alternatively head for the countryside and combine a three course Mother’s Day lunch at The Hare and Hounds with a stroll around the beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum. Both hotels also offer lovely afternoon teas.
