Hidden in the sumptuous surroundings of the hotel is a hidden gem

The Greenway Hotel - The Garden Restaurant

Located on the outskirts of the Regency town of Cheltenham, The Greenway is a 16th century Elizabethan manor house hotel and spa. The 21 bedroom hotel, with its warm Cotswold stone exterior, is the picture of English country charm and lies in eight acres of stunning grounds with views over the rolling Cotswold Hills.

Hidden in the sumptuous surroundings of the hotel is a hidden gem – The Garden Restaurant. Over the years the restaurant has built an enviable reputation for being ‘the place to go’ for that special weekend getaway when you want to combine incredible food with a luxury stay and a relaxing spa experience.

Just 5 minutes outside Cheltenham, the restaurant is an excellent option for a relaxed mid-week dinner or a gourmet get together with friends at the weekend. The kitchen team, led by head chef Marcus McGuinness, have been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for their standards and service, not to mention the mouth-watering food that floats out of the kitchen accompanied by incredible aromas. The stunning oak panelled restaurant, with its grand stone feature fireplace, elegant decor and beautiful views over the sunken garden and ornate lily pond, is the perfect place to enjoy fine dining, good company and superb wines.

Head chef Marcus, who cites Gus Ashenford, David Everitt-Matthais and Claude Bosi as his biggest inspirations as chefs that he has worked alongside, focuses on big flavours and advocates substance over style (though his dish presentation is simply beautiful).

Marcus’s menus include starter dishes such as terrine of confit chicken & ham, I.P.A, pickled raisins and brioche; mains of poached & roasted hake, hispi cabbage, confit lemon & mussels and delicious desserts including Passion fruit parfait, white chocolate & hazelnut
