The Matara Centre is set in 28 acres and, for the last 25 years, Geoffrey, your host, has dedicated much of his time to the Gardens and Parklands.
Setting aside half of the land to rewilding, there are now natural water, woodland and parkland habitats where deciduous plants and wildlife are thriving. He has also created magical, travel-inspired gardens throughout the property creating a fusion of East and West, inspired by Japanese Shinto, tea gardens and Chinese scholar gardens.
The pace of modern life can be overwhelming. Matara is an island of tranquillity that reflects the deeper, but sometimes overlooked, values of life.
It offers you a chance to slow down and breathe, to feel and appreciate the fundamental joys of life.
Our gardens can be enjoyed on many levels - from the physical to the spiritual. We offer them as a place to relax for pure enjoyment or to reconnect with the natural world, helping us to find our own sense of inner harmony.
Matara is featured in Tony Russell's 'The Cotswold Finest Gardens' - a selection of the areas’ most beautiful handpicked gardens to be found within the Cotswolds.

Entry to the gardens is free but you are asked to make a donation to their chosen local charity.
