From 20th-25th September a book festival featuring authors that are academics, biographers, novelists, practitioners, political commentators and journalists at the top of their game including Max Hastings, Jonathan Bate, Marina Warner, Helena Attlee, Sathnam Sanghera, Paula Byrne, Luke Harding, Paul Mason, Rachel Clarke, Ian Dunt, Lennie Goodings and Stanley Wells. Event formats are interestingly varied: performance, film, illustrated talks, interviews, a live presentation Zoomed from Arizona, conversations, and open mic poetry. Our authors cover a huge range of topics from the poetry of Keats and Shakespeare to performance coaching; the novels of Scott Fitzgerald and Barbara Pym to an Allied naval victory in WWII; from cricket and cherries and the boyhood of a scientist to the lives of Beethoven and Clara Schumann and the betrayals of the Windsors; from the Oxford Museum of Natural Science and a palliative care doctor's life on an Intensive Care Unit during Covid to pilgrimages, Empire and the true stories of the men and women behind acts of terrible violence. These events take our audiences across centuries and around the globe from the Cotswolds to Japan, Russia, Spain, Malta, California, Italy, Iceland, New Zealand, Africa and Cold War East Berlin. Ticket prices from £5 Book online or download a booking form.
