Food & Drink in the Cotswolds

Fabulous local produce, award winning restaurants & creative chefs all make eating and drinking in the Cotswolds a truly memorable experience.

Cotswold foodie events take place on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis around the Cotswolds, supported by some enterprising farm shops and farmers markets.

Where to start?

If you're interested in food and drink in the Cotswolds, download the first ever edition of the annual Grazing Guide to the Cotswolds, produced by VerdiCotts Design.

The Guide is unique because everyone listed shares our dedication to the very best in local food and drink and they’ve all been recognised by sought-after awards, accreditations and recommendations. We believe that local food and drink produced with care and passion is the best you can buy. With eight categories comprising specialist shops, dedicated local food and drink producers and delicious products, the Grazing Guide is truly indispensable. And because some of the best tastes and products come from the smallest businesses, we’ve given them all equal space to tell you in their own words what’s special about what they do - download the Grazing Guide here.

Next, pick up a copy of the 'Good Pub Guide' and you'll see that the Cotswolds area has more than its fair share of pubs listed in comparison with other parts of the country. The word that crops up again and again is 'proper' - a reference to solid Cotswold stone pubs that may well have been the focus of village life for hundreds of years.

Meanwhile, our pubs are leading the charge on local food and drink, keeping up with the local Cotswold farmers market movement that is raising awareness of local delicacies such as Old Spot pork, Blaisdon Red plums, trout, Tewkesbury mustard, Gloucester sausages and, especially, cheeses. With over 100 Cotswold cheeses on offer the variety is excellent.

For the ultimate in Cotswold food, try a cookery course with our very own Cotswold Chef, Rob Rees. If you're looking to base your break around the fabulous food of the Cotswolds, take a look at our North Cotswolds and South Cotswolds Food Tours.

Pay to a visit to the Cotswold Food Store - the store sources the best local produce from farms and producers across the Cotswolds.  In addition to the Food Store, there's also a café with a terrace outside for use in the summer. Local produce is at the core of the café’s all-day menu that will feature breakfast, light lunches and delicious cakes & pastries with coffee or afternoon tea.

The restaurant scene is healthy too, with established Michelin starred addresses in Cheltenham at Le Champignon Sauvage and 5 North Street in Winchcombe. The Kingham Plough is holder of a Bib Gourmand award, indicating good food at moderate prices.

We think you'll like our Pudding of the Month - a new recipe from The Pudding Club every month. The Pudding Club was founded at the Three Ways House Hotel in 1985 to prevent the demise of the great British Pudding - help to celebrate their 25th anniversary by making your own pudding!

Finally, an honourable mention for our Cotswold tea rooms which we're proud of - especially Huffkins who serve up delicious afternoon teas in Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Witney and Cheltenham.
