Cotswold Walking Breaks
The Cotswolds and Severn Vale is a perfect location for a cycling break. A wide range of cycling routes cover some of the finest countryside and villages in the UK, allowing you to experience pretty towns and villages, as well as stunning scenery. The variety of terrains range from the gentler slopes of the Severn Vale, to the sharper escarpments of the Cotswold Hills. The cycling routes take you along country lanes, canal side and some traffic- free routes.
A well-planned 7-day Circular Cycling tour map covers 30 miles a day and can be purchased at all Gloucestershire TIC’s for £3.99 or it can be purchased online from sustrans.org.uk. Additional circular routes for one-day rides across the area start from Nailsworth, Berkeley, Painswick, Burford, Cirencester and Winchcombe and are FREE to download by clicking here.
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy visitor attractions along the route and you will be sure to find a lovely cafe, pub or restaurant in most of the towns and villages throughout the Cotswolds, along with a happy sprinkling of Michelin stars too.
There is a wide variety of accommodation options in the Cotswolds, some with the Cyclists Welcome Awards, so you can find something to suit your taste and budget. Historic hotels, inns, guest houses and B&Bs are available throughout the area, or you may choose to stay on a farm, go self catering or simply enjoy the outdoors in a Cotswold campsite.
If you don’t fancy a self-guided cycling tour, then we have plenty of cycling holiday and tour operators who can organise your holiday for you.
