Easter at Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace’s pleasure gardens will transform into an Easter wonderland with lots of interactive experiences, family-friendly activities, Easter trails and shows to enjoy.  Find a traditional fairground, dressing up tent, princess meet & greet, plus Conk the clown Punch and Judy and carnival birds walkabout.  Embark on an Easter bunny walkabout, or frolic with the fairy stilt walkers; plus have a go at archery and get jumping on the bouncy castle or try bungee trampolining!  Families can also see an Easter puppet show, watch balloon twisters, take part in circus skills workshops and have their faces painted over the four-day celebration.

The new Cots Wild Explorer activity trail at Cotswold Wildlife Park

Cotswold Wildlife Park’s new CotsWild Explorer activity trail launches in April for children aged 6 – 11 years old.  The egg themed trail pack (available from the gift shop) comes with a pop badge, lanyard and a pencil, with 10% of the cost going to penguin conservation.  New arrivals at the Park include a flock of spoonbills in their refurbished ‘European wetland’ aviary. The armadillos now have a home in the Walled Garden, with tamanduas, a type of anteater, arriving in the spring. The Park also welcomes some tiny Yellow Striped Box turtles in the Reptile House and a cassowary in the walk-through lake area.

Daylesford Cottages

Cotswold Farm Park's Spring Festival

Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park will be the place to skip and jump into the spirit of spring with an egg hunt around the Park with a prize for every child.  There will also be craft activities and a puppet show to entertain the little ones, as well as all of the usual Farm Park fun – stroking bunnies and holding chicks, bottle feeding the lambs twice daily and the opportunity to feed those greedy goats!  You’ll still be able to see lambing in the Animal Barn too, with new arrivals due every day of the holidays.   All activities are included in the cost of admission.

A 'Spring Cocktail Masterclass' - one of the events coming up at the Lygon Arms

The Lygon Arms, Broadway’s iconic Tudor coaching inn, dating from the 13th century, is celebrating the flavours of the season with a 'Spring Cocktail Masterclass’ on 28th March, hosted by celebrated local pop-up The Barkeep. Enjoy making and tasting seasonal cocktails and classic favourites along with some tasty nibbles (£25). Spring at Sudeley Castle & Gardens

Spring is a beautiful time to explore Sudeley Castle & Gardens. The Art of Selling Songs: Music Graphics from the V&A

Springing into Cheltenham this March, from the one and only V&A London is an exhibition of music marketing spanning across three centuries. This fantastic new touring show will showcase 80 iconic objects from the V&A's collections, ranging from one of the first 19th century phonographic music cylinders to record sleeves and ephemera for the Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols and the Supremes. Titled The Art of Selling Songs, the exhibition will be located at The Wilson from 16 March - 2 June 2019.

The Butterfly Lion on at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester during April

The Barn Theatre open their professional productions with a fantastic family show and arguably one of Michael Morpurgo’s finest books, The Butterfly Lion.  This heart-warming yet bitter-sweet story of faithfulness, destiny and love, tells the tale of a lonely boy in South Africa who one day adopts an orphaned white lion cub. The production is brought to life through great storytelling, music and captivating puppetry.  It runs from 2nd April to 4th May.

Berkeley Castle

Berkeley Castle is the place to be during the Easter holidays.  There’s something for everyone! Gallant knights, wearing their authentic steel armour, impart their expert sword fighting skills on 7th April.  Take a trip to Tudor times on Sunday 14th when the loves of Henry VIII will be gracing the Castle, make sure you pop down to the lower lawns and enjoy the spectacle of medieval falconry displays.  The dragons swoop in on Easter weekend; meet dragon babies, hear fiery tales in the Great Hall and take part in a Chinese Dragon Parade.  There’s an Easter Hunt, face-painting and arts & crafts too!

Cogges

Giant nests are popping up all over Cogges this Easter; discover a trail of climb-in, get-involved, and clamber-on nests located throughout this historic farm. Spring at Dyrham Park

What does it mean if you spot six magpies? Were blackbirds really baked in a pie? Find out about some of the myths and legends from nature in the seventeenth century in our Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt trail with a chance to collect a chocolate egg. There will be different challenges for different ages around the 270-acre ancient parkland to get you out and about this spring.

Dyrham Park’s Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt is running from Saturday 6th to Monday 22th April from 10am until 3pm. It costs £2.50 per trail on top of normal entry.

The Whistle Stop Cafe at Tetbury Goods Shed

This Spring why not take a stroll along the old railway line footpath past the Tetbury Goods Shed? It’s a beautiful bit of countryside. There is free parking and afterwards you can pop into the Goods Shed's Whistle Stop Café for coffee and cake or a light lunch. It's open from 10am to 4 pm, Wednesday to Sunday (Not Easter Monday). During March & April, the Goods Shed performances include jazz, classical concerts & folk music events. Plus, Thursdays are movie nights. Our exhibition space displays work by Bath Textile Artists and from 16th April, British visual artist Peter Unsworth.

The Cotswolds Conservation Board launch their Dark Skies Initiative on the 16th March with a special event led by famous astronomer Will Gater.  ‘Chasing Darkness’ will include a talk by Will about what dark skies mean to us, what they can reveal, and how we must work to protect their treasures and, if the weather allows it, the evening will conclude with an outdoor stargazing session.
