AboutThe cottage is the conversion of the old dairy to Hastings House, the birth place of Warren Hastings (1732-1818), a 17th century Grade II listed Cotswold stone house. It is in the heart of Churchill (also the birth place of William Smith, the father of Geology) which is in open countryside surrounded by a myriad of footpaths, but, lying midway between Chipping Norton and Stow-on-the-Wold is perfectly placed for Cheltenham, Stratford, Oxford and the Cotswolds.
It is a small friendly village with a good pub/restaurant. The cottage looks out onto a walled herb garden which gets the evening sun, making it an attractive place to sit outside on a summer evening. Inside the cottage has recently been completely renovated to a high standard. It is warm and comfortable, with a wood burning stove, but with a fresh modern feel. There is a small fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, washing/drying machine, radio, television and video/DVD. Upstairs the pretty double bedroom with twin beds is just off the bathroom which has a luxury power shower. The cottage has its own private entrance with off street parking, but is attached to the owner's house. This means that the owners are always on hand to welcome guests and answer any queries. Visitors can also take advantage of the free range eggs and honey that the owners sell in the village, and can make use of their hard tennis court.
