About
Robin Dale, farmer and tour guide, is a bit of a local legend. On this unique tour, you will join Robin on his farm, home to his family for 80 years. You will have the chance to explore the ‘lay of the land’ and discover all the secrets of farming in the Cotswolds.
You will have exclusive access to his private museum, where a range of pictures, fossils and historic farm machinery will be explained to you by your host. The Cotswolds are famous for their dry stone walls and Robin has built one specially for you. He will share the ancient craft with you and even give you the opportunity to place some stones yourselves. Not many tours offer you the chance to take part in creating Cotswold history!
Once your work is done, Robin will take you on a tour of the local area, where he will share his deep knowledge of the English countryside. For us, of course, no unique tour would be complete without a private visit to an English manor house, so to end the day, you will be taken on an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ tour of a Jacobean mansion, one of the finest in the Cotswolds. If it’s history you like the Manor’s walls have plenty of stories to tell and the local historian will tell all, such as when the king of England paid a visit to the house and where J.M. Barrie used to show off one of his party tricks. To finish of the day we will retreat to the dining room for a spot of tea with homemade scones and cream. Once you have finished, Robin will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel.
Every tour is tailor-made to your needs and this tour can be completely modified and adapted your way, be that into a shorter or longer tour, to include other destinations or include a stop for tea along the way. This is your day and we’re here to use our expertise to perfect your day in the country.
