The British Motor Museum is packed with family-friendly fun this Easter, offering a full programme of hands-on activities, trails and interactive experiences for all ages.

The Easter trail winds its way around the grounds and features ten activity stations designed to keep children entertained. Little explorers can try their hand at an Easter tin can alley, spot the missing bunny rabbits and even challenge the family to a classic egg-and-spoon race. 

Each trail costs £3.50 and includes an Easter trail sheet, a pair of bunny ears and a chocolate egg at the end. Dairy-free, vegan and allergy-friendly options are also available, making it a great activity for everyone to enjoy.

Easter Events at Corinium Museum

If you’re looking for educational fun this Easter, Corinium Museum in Cirencester has a packed programme of events, workshops and family activities inspired by history, archaeology and science. 

Families can start with the Mammoth Rider Family Trail, running from 28 March to 19 July (10am–5pm). Inspired by the novel Mammoth Rider by S. J. Poyton, this interactive trail challenges children to decipher codes and passwords hidden around the galleries to help the characters navigate the Arctic Research Centre. Younger visitors can enjoy a simpler challenge by spotting snowflakes around the museum. Trails cost £2.50. 

During the Easter holidays there are plenty of hands-on family workshops too. Children can discover ancient crafting techniques in the Prehistoric Axe Head Workshop on 31 March, create their own clay pot in the Prehistoric Pottery Workshop on 1 April, or get messy making cave-inspired artwork in the Prehistoric Painting Workshop on 2 April. Later in the holidays, young historians can craft their own Roman swords and shields on 7 April, design a Roman board game on 8 April, or try their hand at Mini Mosaic making, inspired by the museum’s Roman collection. 

For those who enjoy learning about local history, the museum is also hosting a Medieval Cirencester Town Walk on 31 March, exploring the wool trade and medieval life in the town, as well as a Roman Cirencester Town Walk on 7 April, uncovering the archaeological remains of one of Roman Britain’s most important settlements. 

History enthusiasts can also attend two fascinating talks on 2 April: Corinium Afternoons: Prehistory, which explores remarkable artefacts from more than 6,000 years of Cotswold history, and Imagining Corinium, an evening talk by historical novelist Linda Proud about life in the region before the Roman invasion. 

Later in the holidays, visitors can step back in time during the Roman Soldier Re-enactment Days on 10–11 April, when members of the Ermine Street Guard bring Roman military life to life through battle demonstrations, soldier training and interactive displays throughout the museum. 

Finally, young readers and budding scientists will enjoy the Mammoth Rider Author Workshop with S. J. Poyton on 12 April, featuring storytelling, fascinating mammoth facts, and a chance to see a real baby mammoth tooth. 

With such a varied programme of creative workshops, guided walks and immersive historical experiences, Corinium Museum offers a brilliant mix of learning and fun this Easter.

Spring Open Garden Day

Step inside the private gardens of Badminton House during this special open day. Visitors can admire more than 27,000 tulips planted throughout the house grounds and walled garden – a truly spectacular sight in spring.

Spring Culinary Experiences at Thyme

Thyme is offering a deliciously indulgent series of spring workshops this Easter weekend, perfect for foodies and cocktail enthusiasts alike. 

Kick off the weekend on Friday 3 April with Canapés & Apéritifs (3:00–4:30pm). Spend an hour and a half learning from Thyme’s top chefs how to create simple yet show-stopping canapés. After the class, relax and enjoy your creations with a refreshing apéritif in the Baa Bar or Olive Garden. Tickets are £75. 

On Saturday 4 April (4:00–5:00pm), shake things up at the Cocktail Masterclass. Learn to mix both seasonal and classic cocktails—think rhubarb royals, bergamot and rosemary margaritas, or the perfect martini. Sample your drinks during the session or unwind afterwards in the Baa Bar. This one-hour class is £60. 

Finally, welcome spring on Sunday 5 April with Easter Baking (10:00am–12:00pm). Master traditional Easter treats, including spiced hot cross buns and charming Easter biscuits, while exploring the history and techniques behind these festive favourites. The artworks will be displayed in the Manor House Entrance Hall. Visitors can enjoy this immersive experience as part of their normal admission—no advance booking is required. Explore the blend of visual art and narrative that transforms Hidcote into a space of imagination and wonder.

Spring Workshops & Easter Crafts at The Oxfordshire Museum

If you enjoy getting creative, The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock is hosting a fantastic range of seasonal workshops and family-friendly craft sessions this spring. From hands-on willow weaving to Easter-themed crafts for children, there’s something here for all ages. 

For those keen to try traditional crafts, the Create a Willow Hare workshop with artist Rachel Harwood offers a full day of weaving on Friday 20 March and Saturday 21 March (10am–4:30pm). Suitable for beginners, the session guides you through creating your own striking willow sculpture. The £95 ticket includes all materials, as well as lunch, tea and coffee. 

Another creative highlight is the Spring Wreath Making workshop on Saturday 28 March, with sessions at 10:15am–12:15pm and 1:45pm–3:45pm. Led by Oxfordshire florist Sandra, this workshop will show you how to craft a beautiful seasonal wreath using foliage and natural materials. The workshop costs £60, including tuition, materials and refreshments. 

Throughout the Easter holidays, the museum also hosts a series of drop-in family craft sessions, all priced by donation.
