Day 2 – Cotswold Walks & Outdoor Adventures from Charlbury

Charlbury is surrounded by some of the best Cotswold walking routes, making it a fantastic base for outdoor exploration. Head out on foot to discover ancient woodlands, historic saltways and old stone quarries that tell the story of the landscape. 

Choose a shorter circular walk for a gentle morning or follow a longer countryside route to nearby villages such as Finstock, where you can stop at a traditional country pub like The Plough Inn.

Day 3 – Woodstock & Blenheim Palace Day Trip

Take the S3 bus from Charlbury to Woodstock (around 25 minutes), making this an easy car-free day trip in the Cotswolds.

Woodstock is a historic gem, known for its elegant Georgian streets, independent shops, art galleries and welcoming cafés. 

Visit the Oxfordshire Museum or the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum to learn more about the area, and step inside the parish church to see its remarkable embroidered kneelers and musical clock. 

Afternoon 
From Woodstock, walk directly into the grounds of Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive historic houses in England. Explore landscaped parkland, formal gardens and grand architecture for a truly memorable afternoon. 

Evening 
Return to Charlbury for your final evening, or extend your stay with a night in Woodstock for a relaxed two-centre Cotswold break. Woodstock is also easily accessible via Hanborough station for onward rail connections.
