The Royal Oak Ramsden, the traditional Cotswold Pub. Offering a welcoming bar, populated by locals and travelers alike.  Although the food offering is exceptional, when you walk through the door the first impression is of an old fashioned pub.  Nooks to hide in, open fires to sit besides, stools at the well-used bar where local ales, lagers and spirits are served up.  Local breweries such as Hook Norton and Little Ox adorn the taps.  Single estate Gin and Vodka from nearby Wood Bros are the house options, with the bee saving Apiarist distillery and now famous Cotswold Distillery on the top shelves.  Old fashioned bar games such as Bagatelle, Shut the Box, Chess and Carrom are stacked in the corner, well thumbed and ready to play.  The rustic bar area has dog bowls and dog treats scattered around, this is certainly a ‘muddy boots and paws welcome’ Cotswold stone pub, the wellie racks beside the door attest to that.  The black board with a selection of small plates wet the appetite, from bar favourite Scotch Eggs and Pork Scratchings to Soft Shell Crab and Venison Carpaccio.

The solid wood bar curves out from the pub into a light, airy and spacious ‘Barn’ restaurant where they serve up pub classics to a heightened standard, premium dishes and wonderful sharing roasts with meat from Todenham Manor Farm.  Hooky Ale battered Fish and Chips, and Aberdeen Angus burgers are always on the menu, but with ever changing seasonal content, there is always a few things that are just the bit extra special on offer.  A distinctly separate area of the pub, but the same care and décor follow it through.  Beautiful flower arrangements take centre stage, and beyond that a hidden courtyard pub garden bursting with life.  Herbs, and climbers and trees allowed to go a little wild, only barely tamed.

Sundays are an event here, with the traditional Sunday roast being the focal point.  Head Chef Luke Boobyer and his team cook up some delicious delights, Roast Beef is an ever present.  With a few options the chef likes to play around with, you may find Lamb, Venison or even Wild Boar roasting away every Sunday.  Vegans and Vegetarians are always well catered for on any day of the week, with a few options always available.

An organic and natural wine list reaffirms the commitment to the environment and authenticity of everything they do here.  From a stunning Marlborough Sauvignon and Aussie Shiraz to Japanese Koshu and Hungarian Bikaver, you will find a very interesting selection to tempt you.  And of course a healthy dose of up and coming English Wines to try.

Five boutique bedrooms are scattered throughout the building providing that understated luxury.  The carry on the sense of rural Cotswold seeping through the stone.  Large rooms with roll top baths and stunning toiletries.  Of course Breakfast is included, it is Cotswold hospitality at its most relaxed best.
