The Killingworth Castle has a renowned reputation among foodies that stretches far and wide.
After nearly a year derelict in 2012, the pub which sits at the 'gateway to the Cotswolds, was rescued from a brewery and underwent a complete transformation by the couple behind the award-winning Ebrington Arms, near Chipping Campden.
The Killingworth Castle made the Telegraph’s Top UK 50 places to eat in the UK in its first year and continues to go from strength to strength with fabulous cooking and eight new bedrooms. It has just had a glowing review in The Telegraph newspaper.
People flock to The Killingworth Castle to dine. Dishes are an exciting mixture of innovative modern British classics and our sticky toffee pudding is world famous from the original secret recipe!
The Killingworth Castle is firmly on the map as Oxfordshire’s premier foodie destination and the latest addition of eight bedrooms means you can bed down in luxury and avoid the drive home. It’s the perfect base from which to explore the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, with Blenheim Palace and Woodstock only two miles away. Winston Churchill himself used to drive up from Blenheim to eat at The Killingworth Castle. And from ‘The Killy’ it’s a quick drive into Oxford or Bicester Village for a spot of retail therapy.
The award-winning food is inventive and modern British cooking. The menu offers a perfect mix of exciting dishes alongside perfectly executed pub classics. You can choose to eat in the buzzy bar and soak up the atmosphere or pick a table in the back dining room or snug. There is also a large beer garden for al fresco dining in the hotter months.
We’ve picked up a few accolades so far, including an AA Rosette and The Oxford Times’ Restaurant and Pub of the Year. We also brew three of our own ales, Yubby, Goldie & Yawnie.
