Originally, Poulton Hill Estate was a farm. Today, it’s a small, friendly, family-run vineyard with lots of experience and lots of ambition. Join us for a relaxed tour around our vineyard where we will take you through our history and the growing of grapes. From there you will be taken to our Tasting Room where you will sample four of our wines.
We converted the original Cotswold stone barns into a family home and in 2010/2011 planted our 8,800 vines, which can produce up to 20,000 bottles per annum. We also produce English spirits, all from grapes harvested by hand. Our vision is to expand the vineyard with new planting in 2018 into our west field.
We have also created superior short-stay accommodation, developed a kitchen garden and landscaped the area to create an idyllic spot with outstanding views. Our grand Long Room is designed specifically for wine tastings. It can also be used for corporate entertainment or even private functions.
So whether you want to treat yourself to a weekend away, looking for a venue that’s a bit different to host either a company event or a family birthday gathering, then Poulton Hill Estate could be for you. And what better time to put our wines and spirits to good use!
Grapes aren’t the only things we grow at Poulton Hill Estate. We’re also home to two flocks or rare-breed sheep, Jacob’s Sheep and Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep, two of the oldest breeds in England. Our Babydoll sheep are also used in vineyards in New Zealand and North America. They are friendly sheep and are perfect for keeping the area around the vines tidy without nibbling the grapes – and they fertilize the soil as they graze. They have also been used with great success in fruit and berry orchards.
