About
9.30am-5.30pm (collection point to be arranged with client at time of booking)
Walk the paths once tread by British royalty through the northern Cotswolds. During your day you’ll discover some of the history behind the places visited and homes lived in by some of the British monarchy. Spanning a timeline from the Tudor period through to the Civil War and right up to modern day, your tour will provide you with an insightful experience showcasing some of their legacy left behind.
After touring through some of the villages and towns such as Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and The Slaughters, all with stories of royalty to be heard, you will visit the village of Broadway, home to the famous The Lygon Arms Hotel which played host to both King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell. Frequent stops allow you time to walk the cobbled streets and explore some of the shops and buildings. During the afternoon, you will then continue on to the historic market town of Winchcombe to visit the breath-taking Sudeley Castle and Gardens, which has played an important role in England’s history for over 1,000 years.
Your visit will start with an afternoon tea in the Sudeley Castle Terrace Restaurant, which includes a selection of finger sandwiches, scones and patisserie. Then, led by your own knowledgeable guide, a bespoke tour will give you in-depth detail of the history of the Tudor castle, the gardens and the 15th century church, which is the burial grounds of Katherine Parr and makes Sudeley the only private castle in England to have a queen buried in its grounds.
Royal Tour Upgrade – Sudeley Castle & Champagne Afternoon Tea Experience – (10.30am-7.30pm)
Instead of an afternoon at Sudeley, you will take a break from exploring the Cotswold towns and villages during the day to enjoy a luxury champagne afternoon tea at The Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway with a glass of Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label Champagne. Upon arriving at Sudeley late-afternoon, you will receive an exclusive and bespoke after hours tour of the castle provided by a knowledgeable guide, which includes visits to private family rooms not open to the public. You will then continue to enjoy a canapé and drink reception in the Castle Library. There will also be the potential to meet the family butler (subject to availability). Please note: the Royal Cotswolds tour with the Sudeley Luxury Upgrade option starts and finishes later.
