What is the Cheltenham Literature Festival?
Cheltenham Literature Festival is the world’s first literature festival, leading the way in celebrating the written and spoken word, presenting the best new voices in fiction and poetry alongside literary greats and high-profile speakers.
An annual ten day event is a mixture of ticketed events, free family activities and events and fringe events scattered throughout our Regency town. The festival brings together some of the biggest names in publishing. Award-winning authors of fiction and non-fiction join poets, spoken word artists and new voices to delve into a range of topics including travel and adventure, food and drink, lifestyle, history, art and religion. Past guests have included David Cameron, Hillary Clinton and David Attenborough.
The schools and family programme features events to inspire and entertain. Past events have included draw-alongs, storytelling, facts, fiction and the prestigious CLiPPA (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award) award for published poetry for children.
