Help Shape the New CotswoldsPlus Destination Management Plan (DMP)
CotswoldsPlus LVEP is developing a new Destination Management Plan (see the current DMP) to guide the growth and management of the visitor economy across the region from 2027 onwards following a successful funding bid to Gloucestershire County Council SEDF Fund.
Following extensive research, stakeholder interviews, workshops, sector consultations and evidence gathering, a draft outline has been developed and agreed in principle by the LVEP Management Board. The outline sets out the proposed vision, priorities, target markets, guiding principles and approach to delivery for the next decade.
The final completed DMP will provide a shared strategic direction for the destination, helping businesses, public sector organisations and communities work together to support a thriving, sustainable visitor economy. It focuses on the place itself, its landscapes, heritage, towns, attractions, businesses and visitor infrastructure, rather than individual organisations or governance structures.
We want your feedback
We're now inviting businesses, stakeholders and partners to answer a set of questions via a short survey. The outline DMP is described and incorporated into the survey, so this is your opportunity to influence its content and ensure the DMP reflects the view of all stakeholders.
Your feedback will help ensure the final ten-year strategy is evidence led and reflects local opportunities, challenges and priorities across the CotswoldsPlus region.
Complete the survey
It should take around 10-12 minutes to complete the survey.
To help you complete the survey quickly, please see further context below for questions 5 & 6.
- International Markets
The draft outline plan identifies key inbound markets that offer strong growth potential for the CotswoldsPlus region. Further information on these markets can be found through VisitBritain's inbound market profiles
- Priority Visitor Markets
The draft outline plan identifies three priority visitor markets where the CotswoldsPlus region has the greatest opportunity to grow value, extend stays and encourage wider exploration of the destination.
- Seasoned Discovery Seekers
Experienced, confident travellers who are motivated by culture, heritage, authentic experiences and exploring beyond the obvious. They typically stay longer, spend more and are keen to discover the "real" character of a destination through its landscapes, history, local food and people. This audience closely aligns with VisitBritain's high-value "Experience Seeker" segment.
- Tranquil Town Retreaters
Visitors looking to slow down and escape busy urban environments. They are attracted by picturesque market towns, beautiful countryside, high-quality hospitality, wellness, independent businesses and opportunities to relax and recharge. They value charm, authenticity and a strong sense of place.
- Family Adventurers
Families travelling together who combine attractions, outdoor activities, nature, heritage and memorable shared experiences. Research shows this audience typically stays longer, visits multiple locations and generates high economic value, making them an important market for destinations beyond major cities.
