Cutsdean Quarry

Situated in the north Cotswolds, the quarry was one of the few small sites in the area producing Chipping Norton limestone. The bare rubble has created an interesting limestone grassland and scrub area with areas of scree. During the spring and summer months, the open rock faces make it a great location to spot reptiles such as adders, grass snakes and common lizards as they sunbath. Plentiful butterflies can be found here, including the rare Duke of Burgundy butterfly along with good populations of ringlets, marbled whites and large skippers. Scrub along the eastern edge make it an ideal location to look for linnets, whitethroats, tree pipits and greenfinches.
