About
Taking a two-wheeled tour of the beautiful Forest of Dean is a whole lot easier on one of Pedalabikeway’s electric bikes. The company’s three-hour E-bike Experience, led by a knowledgeable local guide, features fantastic landscapes and countryside, fascinating ancient industrial sites and unique wildlife, and ends with a coffe and cake.
The experience starts at Pedalabikeaway’s Cannop Valley or Mallards Pike Lake site where you’ll join your group of between four and eight cyclists and the expert guide, then be introduced to your modern electric bike. Guests should be confident cyclists as the trails used are relatively wide and flat, but generally hard stone tracks rather than tarmac. Now saddle up and then, travelling along the quiet forest roads and former railway and tram lines crossing the forest, you’ll discover some of the area’s ancient heritage sites including coal mines, charcoal pits and iron works. You will also visit special spots offering fantastic views over the Severn Estuary or Welsh Mountains, where you might also see awesome wildlife such as wild boar, roe deer and maybe even a goshawk.
Back at your departure point you can tuck into a well-earned slice of cake with a warm drink. Bike hire, guide, food and drink is all included in the price. Cyclists should wear practical clothing suitable for the outdoors, such as sturdy footwear and a lightweight outer layer.
