About
Traditional Afternoon Tea at The Speech House Hotel
Afternoon Tea at the historic Speech House is a suitably traditional affair with fine bone china, a tiered cake stand of indulgent treats, and a selection of fine teas to choose from.
If you wanted to indulge after a long walk in the forest, or pamper yourself just because, an Afternoon Tea at The Speech House in Coleford, in the glorious Forest of Dean will suit you perfectly.
The Speech House, now a hotel, which was built in 1669 by King Charles II, originally as a hunting lodge. The Verderers Court, home to the Verderers, (who were introduced to provide for beasts of the forest, in particular deer and boar, and for the protection of their habitat), is just one historical element of the hotel that will make this Afternoon Tea even more special.
A leaflet on the history of the Speech House building and Verderers Court is available free to guests, and subject to the rooms being available, you can request a look inside the historical Verderer’s Court – which still holds sessions to this day.
