Surrounded by meadows of wildflowers with grazing deer and farm animals, Cockshutt cottage is a serene open-plan home with a log fire for those wintry evenings, two enclosed gardens, astounding views and a wonderful sense of peace and tranquillity.

There are flagstone floors, sheepskin rugs and leather sofas to curl up in, while outside there is a barbeque and a firebowl, as well as loungers to catch the afternoon sun.

Cockshutt is on one floor, with two bedrooms, a double and a twin, a bathroom and kitchen-living room.

Quirky and classy artwork hangs from the walls and there is a selection of books, DVDs and boardgames.

When you want to call it a day, there are fluffy towels and crisp Egyptian cotton linen and soft blankets to lull you to sleep. The kitchen garden is the perfect breakfast spot, with an east-facing patio and views across the fields. In the evening watch the sun go down across the valley from the south-facing garden.

The cottage is surrounded by the farm’s 70 acres of pasture and woodland – perfect for a wander.

A 20-minute stroll across the fields brings you to the local pub, a quintessential Cotswold inn, while cafes and a farmshop are all within walking distance.

Further afield is the market town of Stroud with its famous farmers’ market as well as the gems of the Cotswolds.

Closer to home is a farm shop deli complete with a drive-through café and you can order hampers in advance from Westley Farm or pick up essentials including fresh eggs from the farmyard.
