Gold Rush Cabin was inspired by the frontier cabins of the American west, but the rough timber walls of this creative octagonal structure hide just a little more comfort than the average prospector would have known.
Inside you will find an antique wood-burning stove to keep you snug, throws and rugs bearing patterns inspired by the myths of the west, a giant sheepskin rug (made from four sheep, not a single giant sheep!), the comfiest bed this side of the Rockies, a pair of cow hide chairs and some oddments picked up on the owners’ travels way out west: wooden grenade boxes for when you get tired of digging for gold, a fearsomely-toothed Californian saw blade for cutting down those giant redwood trees.
Outside there is a large deck, a camp kitchen with a cast iron gas burner, a barbecue, hammock, fire pit, cold box and the cowboy shower, with tin walls, hot water and a watering can shower head. And when the call of nature comes, visit the Cabin’s woodland loo with a view!
Westley Farm is one of the Cotswolds’ best-kept secrets, a 70-acre farm, surrounded by ancient woodland, rolling meadows and unrivalled views. There’s lots to do on the farm, from pony rides to exploring the woods, but if you want to venture out we’re close to the Cotswold gems, as well as the foodie heaven of Stroud and the Roman market town of Cirencester. There’s golf, waterparks, castles, gliding and even a local circus on the doorstep.
But you might want to stay put and watch for the kestrels, buzzards, owls, badgers, foxes and deer, as well as the sheep and cattle that graze the fields.
Please note there is a three night minimum stay.
