Workstream Accessibility & Inclusion
The demand for accessible tourism is growing — enabling more people to participate in and enjoy tourism experiences, regardless of ability. Many visitors have access needs, whether related to physical, sensory, mental health, or cognitive conditions.
Providing clear, accurate accessibility information — as part of a broader commitment to inclusive tourism — helps position the Cotswolds Plus area as a welcoming and competitive destination. It also supports local businesses and the wider region to unlock new market opportunities and enhance the quality of the visitor experience for all.
Without easy-to-find, trustworthy access information, potential visitors may simply choose to go elsewhere. The accessible tourism market is both sizeable and loyal: in England alone, visitors with a health condition or impairment — and their travel companions — spend over £2 billion annually.
Our vision is to create an inclusive visitor economy across the CotswoldsPlus region, where everyone can enjoy high-quality experiences that reflect the area’s unique heritage and natural beauty — regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive ability.
We are working with VisitEngland who have launched an Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Toolkit for Businesses. This provides practical guidance, reassurance, and confidence to help businesses move forward on their inclusivity journey.
