Workstream Skills & Training

VisitEngland supports the development of skills and expertise in the CotswoldsPlus LVEP team through access to training opportunities. It is also supporting the wider sector with webinars  and training.

As a team, it is vital knowledge of the region and relationships with key industry partners continue to develop and staff have access to professional development opportunities.

For employers, residents and students, Gloucestershire County Council has an employment and skills hub, careers and skills portal and Growth hubs that offer training and mentoring with Enterprise Oxfordshire supporting businesses based in Oxfordshire.

All LVEP partners liaise with local education providers, with the Cotswolds National Landscape running educational schemes such as Everyone’s EvenlodeThe Forest of Dean Economic Partnership has a focused sub-group to tackle the specific challenges facing the Forest of Dean district around Education and Skills to ensure a skilled workforce for present and future economic growth.

Together all strategic partners will:

  • Engage in advocacy efforts to ensure that the visitor economy is considered for educational opportunities for both tourism and hospitality.
  • To increase awareness of the range of jobs in the hospitality sector: Collaborate with local educational establishments, communities and businesses to improve the understanding of the breadth of jobs across the visitor economy.
  • To support our partner businesses through training opportunities
  • To collaborate with educational institutions across the region to help deliver real tourism work experience for students
  • Overall, support a thriving tourism industry in the region

There is no dedicated action plan for this workstream, as the majority of this work is led at a county level where the LVEP has an influencing role.
